Dedicated Art Program
With our extremely talented Art Teacher, Mrs. Fleming, students are learning art history while doing fun, creative, and interesting art projects tailored to their grade level. Under the exceptional guidance of Mrs. Fleming, every student also participated in the creation of an amazing mural on campus (partially designed by Brook Knoll students!) at the beginning of the school year.
*The 2013-2014 program cost for Art (including supplies) is $12,000. This allows every student in grades K-5 to receive art only one (1) time per month for 45-60 minutes depending on grade level. One of our goals is to raise enough money this year to increase the frequency of art classes for our students!

Dedicated Computer Lab
The incredible Mrs. Utic has developed and implemented a unique Computer Lab curriculum that is extremely fun for students while also emphasizing some of the most basic, yet important computer skills such as mouse maneuvering, screen navigation, correct keyboarding, and proper posture. Her dynamic and engaging program is specially designed for students in Kinder through 5th grades and tasks them to master each of the skills on their specific grade level "check list"! Additionally, students in upper grade levels learn to navigate the World Wide Web, gain familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint by creating their very own documents, and even learn to use Google docs; all of which will give them a head start for the requirements at the Middle School and beyond!! The Computer Lab is also utilized for iReady assessment testing two times per year (Fall and Spring), Accelerated Reader quizzes, and other online testing programs for various grade levels.
*The 2013-2014 program cost for Computer Lab (including software) is $20,000. This allows students in grades K-5 to attend Computer Lab once (1x) per week for 45 minutes from the end of September to the end of May. Computer Lab time is also shared with library time.

Dedicated Music Program
Under the exceptional tutelage of Mrs. Colleen Clark (K-3rd) and Mr. Dillon Baiocchi (4th-5th), our music program is unparalleled!
"Miss Colleen" (as her students affectionately call her) has been a beloved music teacher here at Brook Knoll for the last nineteen (19!) years and her excitement and passion for music and teaching is easily felt by anyone who meets her!! Using the Orff Schulwerk method, Miss Colleen teaches her students musical concepts through singing, chanting, and movement while also working with pitch and non-pitch instruments. Students are also learning the fundamentals of music performance, theory, and vocabulary in addition to learning to sing and play in canons and musical rounds. An emphases is also places on teaching students to keep a steady beat by learning to hear it, repeat it, and play it. Studies have proven that the stronger children are with internalizing a steady beat, the more success they have with reading and math! Students also actively participate in learning to play musical instruments, sing a wide variety of songs, and even perform a spring concert for family and friends!
*The 2013-2014 program cost for Music is $27,000. During the school year Kinder students will receive twenty (20) 30-minute music lessons, 1st grade will receive twenty-eight (28) 30-minute lessons, and 2nd and 3rd grades receive twenty-eight (28) 40-minute lessons.
More information on Mr. Baiocchi's music program for 4th and 5th grades is coming soon!

Science & Life Lab
A dynamic background teaching both math and science makes Mrs. Dyc-O'Neal the perfect fit to provide inspiration to our young scientists! Through interactive experiments and hands on manipulation, our students are experiencing all aspects of a well-rounded science program. A few examples of what students have worked on, both cooperatively as well as individually, are: planning and planting our many Life Lab garden plots, building a large nest as part of our school-wide Eagle Week celebration, and "growing" their very own snow flakes! Our "explosive" science program has students constantly begging for more!
*The 2013-2014 program cost for Science & Life Lab (including supplies) is $15,000. All students in grades K-5 at Brook Knoll will participate in ten (10) 80-minute science lessons throughout the school year.
